One Project at a Time

Penguin Christmas

Hooray – FINISHED! What dud I finish? Mt October monthly marker coloring class from Kit and Clowder, that’s what! I have just learned so much from these classes.

The backgrounds are always optional, and I usually avoid them because I am afraid of ruining my whole piece. But this time I took a stab and was pretty happy with it. I took what I learned and applied it again to another card which I will be showing you later this week. Be sure to pop back in and check it out.

The best part of these lessons is that they are step-by-step so you build on your skills and learn art fundamentals at the same time. Each is accompanied by a video and a PDF booklet. This month’s image is a special deal from Whimsy stamps, but you can get the three penguins themselves without the background. It is called “Penguins Party.”

I printed the digital stamp on Xpress-It blending card in my Brother printer. I reduced the saturation so it would end up more like the no-line look. Here is what the completed first step looked like:

How cute are those penguins! The next step was to finish the Christmas tree.

Finally came the background, shown above, and then I made it into a card using MFT cranberry cardstock for the 5″ x 7″ base. What doesn’t show up well is the gold foil mat. It adds some shine to the card.

Hope you enjoyed this look at my lesson. I am just now finishing up the October pencil class, which also involves Whimsy penguins. I will have that later this week too! Come back soon.
